In The End….
“In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” - Martin Luther King Jr.
On Monday, January 21, we have no school to honor a great man. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, one of the greatest men in American History. He stood up for his rights, and fought until the very end. Schools should be closed on this day so students realize the importance that this man did, and why he did it. I think I can go either way if we should have school or not. If we did, then we can focus more on it and learn more about him and what he did…and students wouldn’t think of having no school as an excuse not to do anything on this day. But if there isn’t school, kids can remember why we dont have school, but some think of it as a fun day not to go to school. Some people really dont get the idea of Martin Luther King Day. Kids just think ‘Yay day off from school’, parents just think ‘Yay day off from work.’ or ‘What day did you say it was?’ We should use this day to teach and learn about him, his life, and why he did what he did. Really, the point of this day is remember this good man. Remember that he fought and never give up. Remember that he lead others to what is right. Remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, and why we have this Monday off.
