In The End….

“In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” - Martin Luther King Jr.

On Monday, January 21, we have no school to honor a great man. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, one of the greatest men in American History. He stood up for his rights, and fought until the very end. Schools should be closed on this day so students realize the importance that this man did, and why he did it. I think I can go either way if we should have school or not. If we did, then we can focus more on it and learn more about him and what he did…and students wouldn’t think of having no school as an excuse not to do anything on this day. But if there isn’t school, kids can remember why we dont have school, but some think of it as a fun day not to go to school. Some people really dont get the idea of Martin Luther King Day. Kids just think ‘Yay day off from school’, parents just think ‘Yay day off from work.’ or  ‘What day did you say it was?’ We should use this day to teach and learn about him, his life, and why he did what he did. Really, the point of this day is remember this good man. Remember that he fought and never give up. Remember that he lead others to what is right. Remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, and why we have this Monday off.

Ahhhh Help! New Technology!

In the video, Book Help-Desk, it shows how you can make the simplest new thing into something hard. This one person is trying to figure out how to read this book, but he seems to be having trouble. Honestly, it not that hard, but he’s not getting the concept of it. Apparently, this is all new to him, and he is having trouble even opening it. So, he calls in a person from ‘The Help-Desk’ to help him do it. The helper understands it completely, since its only a book, so he tries to teach the other person how to use it. After explaining it to him, the person seems to get it finally, but before the helper leave, the person wants to make sure he gets it. He goes to open it, but it doesn’t open. He tries and tries but it wont work. The helper explains that you need to turn the book around in order for it to open!
The point of this video, in my opinion, is that even the simplest things can be turned into the most complicated tasks, how to read a book/get the book to open, for example. If you look into something too hard, you will not figure out what to do. You must first try little simple tasks, dont go straight into difficult ones.
