Singer,Songwriter,Pianist…What More??

sippiewallace-750181.jpgSippie Wallace. A wonderful person. Born in Texas in 1898, one of 13 children.  Her first name was Beulah Thomass. She married Matt Wallace in 1917, and changed her name. Sang even when she was a child. In her midteens, she was even singing in various popular Texas Shows, and grew up to become a talented and spirited Blues Singer. She even made some recordings with Louis ArmstrongRoosevelt Sykes and Little Brother Montgomery. She played at some very famous shows and started to become famous herself. She made some very good blues songs that people still listen to today.
She was even nominated for a Grammy Award, and inducted into the
Michigans Womens Hall of Fame in 1993.
I picked this person because I already knew a few things about her, and heard some of her songs(Which were verrry old). In elementry school in music class we had to pick a famous songwriter and write about them. Our teacher put up some names, and I happened to choose Wallace. Who knew that I would be doing a blog post about her a few years later, on the day of her death?!
Speaking of death, in March of 1986 after a cancert in Germany, she suffered a suvere stroke. Hospitalized, returned to the US, and died on her 88th birthday in Michigan.
Pretty weird, huh? Having your birthday and deathday all on t he same day! Well, Happy Birthday and Deathday to you, Sippie Wallace!
