Why Don’t We Dream of a White Christmas Anymore??
Ok, so again Mr. Bogush asked us to do a post about something. (Obviously) But this time it was on the enviroment. I tryed going to the sites from pbogush.edublogs.org, but they didn’t work, so I didn’t know what the post was supposed to be about. Then, he said just do a post about the enviroment. SO! I had a bunch of thoughts in mind, but i decided to research just a little bit to get an idea of something. Then it hit me. Globalwarming! I came across the NationalGeographic site, and it talks about Globalwarming and how the enviroment is changing. So…thats what this post is about….that dang globalwarming that everyone hates. No more wild snow storms or feet of snow….
Glaciers melting, seas rising, cloud forests drying, wildlife trying to keep pace…why?? Well, thats globalwarming for ya. The “GreenHouse Affect” is warming that happens when gases in Earths atmosphere trap heat. The gases are letting in light, but keeping heat from escaping. The heat gets absorbed, and stays inside the atmosphere, making the temperature rise. Im sure were all pretty mad because, well, we dont get a lot of snow anymore. We have our good storms and times where it snows so much, but it doesn’t stick to the ground. We still get snow, but not as much as we used to. (Thank you, Globalwarming) Now, obviously, changes im temperature are normal, but in the colder seasons, its been warmer than usuall, causing glaciers to melt and seas to rise, causing animals to struggle to survive.
As the mercury rises, the climate can have unexpected changes. With unexpected changes, the weather can become more extreme. Scientists have been seeing these changes occuring more quickly then they should. According to the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel Climate Change, 11 of the 12 most hottest thermomator readings have been between 1995 and 2006.
So, the reason for higher seas, wild weather, hotter temperatures, less snow…..Globalwarming. Globalwarming is behind all of it, so we should thank ourselves for uses so many fossilfuels and gasses that trap heat in the atmosphere, causing Globalwarming to occur. Thank you Globalwarming, and Thank you, us.
